Tara is honoured as the Mother Goddess or Mother of Buddhas in Tibetan Buddhism. She is worshipped as White Tara, Green Tara, Red Tara, and many more. HER mantra is very popular; and according to many legends this compassionate Goddess helps even the most humble and uneducated devotee to realize Divine Consciousness.
Sir Lawrence Durdin-Robertson has written
wonderfully about Her in "Goddesses of India, Tibet, China & Japan.
In Eire Tara is the Guardian of the Land and Mother of the High Kings & Queens. But as it is said in the ceremony "Children of Lir":
"The Deities do not share the national prejudices of some of their followers".
So the accolade of the Noble Order of Tara means for those, who receive it the honour of being part of a kind of universal Round Table, to enter a realm, not restricted to the Celtic or Arthurian world view, but open to all who share the ideals of Love, Truth and Beauty.
